Logo is annoying
By JohnSu - Taiwan   December 3, 2009

The tag is strong, but like another reviewer wrote: 1. Business card does not fit perfectly (needed some cutting). 2. Log is REALLY annoying 3. Easily torn off. Would be better if they used a hole reinforced with a metal ring and a stronger metal chain.

Unfortunately, the first time I used my (terrific) Redoxx Safari Beano PR5.5, the ID tag was torn off, never to be seen again. My solution was to order military style embossed brass dogtags on line with my ID and contact information, and affix them to my luggage with the seemingly indestructible monkey's fist zip knots. I've since ordered more monkey's fists to retrofit all of my luggage with these tags.Note:Don, Red Oxx has recently started using military dog tags in stainless steel to label our bags. We expect to have online ordering capability for this item in Spring 2008.Red Oxx

I can't sleep so here I am writing a review - on a luggage tag? I have lots of the tags because they came with Red Oxx products I own, most of which I never use for travel, so I was able to gather the tags to apply to those I do use for that purpose.Although Red Oxx specifies that these tags will hold a business card, I make up a special tag on my computer (using a program like Word). It is easy to do by starting with a table that prints out slightly smaller than the card Red Oxx supplied with the tag - slightly smaller so that it makes it easy to slide it into the tag.Using a color printer you can make a very colorful and readable tag - I make two copies and insert them back to back so that the information is on both sides of the tag, I don't have to turn it over. And my last name is written in the largest font I can squeeze in.The tags are inexpensive, so I would use two per bag, and in fact on a long trip to an exotic place I would use three or even four. Here are my comments about the tags themselves:1) They are are very strong but baggage handling equipment can rip them off (without damaging your bag, fortunately), which is why the recommended extra number of tags.2) Red Oxx logo in black printed on one side of the (clear) tag interferes with the two sided viewing feature I try to use as I described above.3) Not the easiest tag to slide in paper information as printed out, which is why I suggest making the printed tag a little smaller than you would think it should be.4) The tag as supplied has a longish strap, which makes it convenient for creative tying on, but in some circumstances makes the tag more vulnerable to being pulled off because it is hanging so far from the bag. If you use multiple tags you can vary the tie on strap length so at least one of the tags is not flapping in the breeze so much.
