A durable Nylon Briefcase for when you need more room.
Double the volume of our Metro Briefcase.
Carry-on the CPA Business Briefcase on your next flight and you'll have everything you need securely at your side. Plenty of room for files, a tablet or laptop, a snack, and even a change of clothes-- just in case your checked luggage goes to Barbados, while you're heading to Brooklyn. Volara closed cell foam padding in front, bottom and back keeps your laptop notebook safe and as a nice added touch, it also keeps your briefcase upright.
DOUBLE THE CARRY CAPACITY.
The CPA briefcase has the same features as our popular Metro briefcase, except double the volume capacity. The inside includes two internal mesh dividers on each side of the briefcase. One file divider is sewn down on the bottom to keep your files or magazines fixed in place, while the other is left open to the bottom so you can secure your laptop out of the way using the snap buckle. Both dividers have pockets for CDs, business cards, and writing instruments. Carry your Nalgene bottle in one of the twin gathered-elastic end pockets.
PLENTY OF POCKETS.
On the exterior of the briefcase you have access to six pockets, including two expanding bellows pockets with exclusive 'Red Oxx finger loop snap' closures. 'Red Oxx Finger Loop Snap' closures. These side pockets feature the exclusive ROFLS -- "Red Oxx Finger Loop Snap" closures which utilize our Mil-Spec stainless steel snaps and thoughtfully designed thumb loops that make closing these handy pockets a "snap." ROFLS allows one-handed snapping closure. Simply slip a finger into the loop under the snap post and use your thumb to press the post in place. ROFLS is a clever solution that prevents crushing items (like your precious sunglasses) under the snaps. Behind each gusseted pocket are secret hidden flat slip pockets for that little extra bit of storage.
Hidden behind each bellows pocket is a secret flat "slip pocket" for papers, boarding passes, sunglasses, etc. The bellows pockets work well for laptop batteries or power supplies. The other two pockets are full-length flat zipper pockets for tablets, documents or magazines. Confidently carry your CPA Briefcase using the nonslip Claw Shoulder Strap or by the reinforced nylon carry handles.
A BRIEFCASE BUILT LIKE A TANK?
Our customers like to define our gear as "built like a tank". While obviously you're not going to be toting around briefcases that weigh 50 tons and have three inches of armor plate, still the comparison is valid. For a briefcase, the CPAs are built tough. Starting with ione of the most durable textile materials available, 1000 weight CORDURA® nylon, we use super strong UV resistant thread that's stitched into every seam.
BOUND AND BAGGED.
Places where two separate pieces of fabric are stitched together are then bound, that is, we take a long piece of one inch wide nylon webbing and fold it over the edges of the two pieces and stitch them together, this creates a strong seam, or binding, that prevents the pieces from unraveling on the inside of the case, or gives it a clean finished look if on the outside of the bag.
BINDING INSIDE / BINDING OUTSIDE.
In addition, each exposed fabric edge, such as on a pocket flap, is also bound using a thicker binding material. Inside edges typically receive a thinner nylon webbing, whereas outside corner edges that are exposed to wear will have a thicker nylon binding. All of our binding material is vertically woven to prevent fraying, peeling or splitting that you may commonly see in competitors breifcases that brag of "binding" their edges.
WHY DOUBLE BOX STITCHING?
Each stress point, such as where the handles attach to the CPA, is double box stitched - which is where we get the "double XX" in our name, Red Oxx; a stitching practice we adapted from our service as parachute riggers.
MY, WHAT BIG ZIPPERS YOU HAVE!
The reason Red Oxx uses the largest zipper we can afford, the #10 YKK VISLON® zipper, is that they are easily repairable, even in the field; they will hold their place, that is, they "lock"; they are difficult to penetrate, thereby increasing the security of your belongings; they function smoothly in inclement weather and they can be yanked from a variety of angles without losing teeth or becoming separated.
PUTTING THE HARD IN HARDWARE.
Red Oxx has occasionally been accused of "overdoing" our hardware. But once you've had a cheap piece of plastic hardware break in the middle of a busy intersection, airport or other inconvenient locale dumping your precious documents and electronics all over the ground, having a heavy-duty nickel-plated or stainless steel D ring or attachment swivel that weighs just a little more, or might make a little noise, is a travel companion's confidence builder and peace of mind maker. After all, you want to enjoy your journey as best you can. Why worry about having your bag break down?
WHY THE CPA?
The primary advantage of the CPA over the Metro is space. Doubling the volume in the main compartment (width) gives you flexibility to carry more with you.
The Red Oxx CPA Briefcase keeps you moving, organized, even clothed, and your office goods protected.

A bag for Physical Therapist
By Josh, Ventura, CA, March 24, 2015
This bag serves many roles. I'm not sure how many physical therapists are reading this, but I've used this bag both as a clinician and a business owner. It can fit many treatment and evaluating tools, plus paperwork and laptops. Even with all that I feel like I'm only using half its capacity. A don't forget the most important part for any therapists: a coffee travel mug holder! Or... A water bottle holder, whichever is your preference.

I bought this as a grip to carry all my railroad books in. It's perfect for the job. I am extremely pleased with the size and durability
By Anne, Kentucky, January 22, 2015
Although I love, love, love this bag, I have to carry quite a bit of office stuff with me, and if I'm carrying it for a period of time, it can get rough. (This is what's in it now - a laptop (with sleeve), two 1" binders, a 2" red weld with papers, a couple of notepads, electrical cords/etc, a pencil/pen/post-it note pouch.) I ordered it (along with the Skytrain) a year ago. I travel weekly, and needed quality luggage, and I hate luggage with wheels. A year later, and it still looks brand new - with as much wear and tear I put this thing through, that's saying a heck of a lot. It will fit under an airline seat (unless, perhaps, it's busting with stuff - then it may be more difficult), which is so nice, don't have to worry about battling with others for the overhead space.
I do agree with others that some kind of internal, zippered enclosure would be nice. If you have long hair, it will get caught in the strap and you'll do the whole head-over bit.
Getting back to the weight - one of the nice things is that it is a monster at how much it can hold.... But this is also one of the not great things - if you actually put that much stuff in there, it can get pretty darn heavy (I've weighed mine a couple of times, anywhere from 15 pounds to 35!), which can get rough on my back/shoulder while traipsing through airports (I know, just put less in there - but if I have it, I need it). So, I'm looking at backpacks, thinking of getting the K-12 one, but not sure if it's going to hold everything I need.
Making a long-distance commute manageable and efficient
By Shane, Prescott AZ, October 15, 2014
I commute to Los Angeles from AZ every week; this bag is the real deal, and the ONLY thing I take. Large enough to hold a computer, 3 days of clothes (use a packing cube!), food, water bottle. Small enough to carry on a turboprop, the train, whatever. Letter-size documents fit perfectly in outside zippered areas for easy access, expanding pockets are quick and great for odds and ends. Inside layout is flexible and works well. It's a super tough bag that will not look out of place at the range, on the ramp, in the classroom, or in a boardroom. Especially if you get this animal in Black. Whether I'm in jeans or a suit, it just works. Backpacks might do the same job, but would be a silly option in business settings. Shoulder strap and handles are comfortable even for heavy and long hauls.
Very well built and designed bag
By heagan, Texas, September 18, 2014
Spent many years with backpacks and messenger bags to carry my daily grind. I got really tired of digging through those types of bags and wanted something more like a briefcase. I stumbled on this bag online and ordered the standard version first. I liked it but it was too small, so I ordered the CPA. Perfect size and well thought out pockets on the inside. I have everything for my laptop, including an external hard drive with plenty of room for folders, sunglasses and other stuff. Super easy to access everything, no more digging.
I really wish Oxx would make a led strip light that you could pin up near the zipper from the inside. That way it would illuminate the inside for better night time visibility. That would make this bag beyond perfect.
By John, Shelton, CT, August 30, 2014
Great quality, roomy, lightweight. This is third bag I bought in last 18 months (others not RedOxx)and I finally got it right. RedOxx is the best. Tired of cheaply made goods from overseas. I'm not a CPA but I do carry lots of work related stuff with me each day and this bag fits the bill. It's well balanced because there are two centered handles instead of one off centered handle as on cheaper bags. This makes it easy to carry or lift. Shoulder strap is comfortable and stays in place. Other reviewers are suggesting an interior zippered pouch, which makes sense and would be practical but I love this bag as is. Handmade in the USA!
A great step up from the backpack.
By R Shepard, Western NY, May 23, 2014
Years ago, I bought the PR5 Safari-Beanos bag and it has STILL been my go-to piece of luggage for any trip. When it came time to get a proper shoulder bag for school (I'd been using a backpack prior), I did look at other companies as well as Red Oxx. My wife owned the Metro briefcase, which I dug -- but it wasn't roomy enough. The obvious choice? The CPA.
To give you an idea of what I'm hauling around: a Macbook with sleeve, four thick folders of paper, a couple of spiral notebooks, a couple of average-size textbooks, Clif bars, pens/pencils, chargers for my cell phone and laptop, a small umbrella, and a Nalgene bottle. The CPA handles all of this with room to spare for a crammed-in lightweight jacket, should I need it. The shoulder strap is diesel and DOES NOT SLIDE, as advertised. It stands on its own beautifully.
I gave this five stars, but there are a couple of small caveats/suggestions that I have. Firstly, the CPA is not waterproof. I'm not sure many bags are; I got caught in one rainstorm and a little water got in. Nothing major, but it's something for you to keep in mind. (I didn't expect a waterproof bag; just sayin.) The only suggestion I'd have is to put some sort of tread/feet on the bottom to protect the bottom. I'm sure it's durable, but this would increase the life of the product and I'd be happy to pay a little more for something like that.
The bag already comes with monkey knots on the zippers and a luggage tag, so you're set in that department. Overall, a quality product that's worth purchasing.
By Anonymous, Alabama, April 24, 2014
I use this as a local bag on the railroad and I love it!!!! Durable, light weight, and easy to use. I have it stuffed with rule books, timetables, general and system bulletins, pens, lights, and everything else I have to have and still have room. The only thing I wish it had was a clip for your keys, other than that, it's the perfect bag.
----------Red Oxx Replies: Thanks for the great review! We sell a Pin Mount Key Clip that you can mount anywhere you like in or on your CPA.
By Steve F, MN, April 21, 2014
Excellent. I needed a bag that could hold a large laptop. One small suggestion for future design change. If possible (??) a water proof durable bottom for the case so I I set it down on water the case and contents would be protected. Also, wider front pockets to hold the larger cell phones. I think that this case is almost perfect. And I have purchase many different cases
Well made, but not "The One"...
By John H, San Antonio, TX, April 10, 2014
I really wanted this to be "The One". I routinely travel with 2 computers, iPad, chargers etc.
I own the Air Boss and think its truly the best.
I will start with Pros:
Roomy - plenty of space for 2 computers
Sturdy - typical Red Oxx overconstructed. Durable fabric.
Nice features like dual bottle pockets and 1 handed snaps.
Handles are thin and floppy. Hard to corral
Not enough discrete storage - 2 snap pockets outside. Inside organizer panels not much help keeping accessories organized. Everything winds up in bottom and tangled.
Claw strap stays on shoulder but bag doesn't "hang" well.
Top zip opening is awkward - unlike Air Boss that zips around, zipper only goes around top. Hinders access.
Overall its a good material and construction just doesn't match my ideal bag ideas. I could recommend it, but will likely watch for next offerring from Red Oxx.
By Todd , Asheville, NC, March 27, 2014
Big , good looking , and one of those products that just oozes handmade, quality construction. My CPA is literally a mobile office for me, and carries everything from office supplies, paperwork, laptop, iPad, etc.
For me personally, I would have liked to have one hidden zippered pocket. Not a deal breaker, but something I miss from my previous inferior bag. I think you need to love your red oxx bags, cuz' you certainly aren't going to kill them!!

Have two of these units for hauling gear to fire camp - plans section. Carry laptop computer, portable printer, attachements, and an array of other stuff. Good, rugged, padded to protect gear. Can throw in pick-up or on a plane. Made in Montana!
By RG, New Jersey, February 20, 2014
Purchased this briefcase for my husband for a gift. He loved it. He later purchased the smaller one for a couple of his friends as gifts. Perfect for traveling and fits everything you need. The quality is fantastic.
By Farmer Brown, Oklahoma, February 15, 2014
Finally, a briefcase that remains upright. The flat bottom pretty much insures that this bag will not tump over. This bag is pretty large and I wish it were a few inches shorter, though the width and height are fine. The shoulder strap is excellent and does not slip off my shoulder. Due to the bag's large size, it can be a bit of a tight fit under some airliner seats. It holds a truck load. Very good construction and materials.
Getting used to no backpack
By Sam, Kentucky, February 4, 2014
I have been using a backpack the past 15 years for laptop, etc. both for daily commute and international travel. With an almost OCD system, was worried about having a place for everything with the CPA. Well, no issue on that, plenty of places inside and out for me. NOTE THAT THE HANDLES SLIDE OVER MY ROLLER SUITCASE HANDLE - YEA! Plenty of room - was wondering if to go with the Metro. I found the volume of my backpack and matched it to the CPA. The only issue for me is carrying with the handle or strap versus backpack straps, if packed heavily. The claw works well but a bit difficult with a big winter jacket. Should learn to pack a little lighter anyway. The construction is very good, expect it to last a long time.
By DUANE, WESTERN NEW YORK, January 16, 2014
As a train engineer who is frequently on the road this is a great bag. Extremely durable and excellent quality. I'm sure it will last for years to come ~ like my other, larger Red Oxx bag I purchased two years ago. Great stuff!
Good, but not "Red Oxx Great"
By WFF, Texas, January 14, 2014
I love my Air Boss. I had a canvas brief from LL Bean but it kept coming apart at the seams due to the weight of my 17" laptop so I got a CPA brief. The positives: it is built Red Oxx tough, just like my Air Boss. Love the sturdy seams, strong zippers, and the workmanship. It easily holds my laptop, brick, mouse, notebooks, travel documents, pens, and similar travel items. The negative: the design is not fully thought-out.
The bag needs 3 items to make me say that it is great. First, I need a secure INSIDE pocket to hold my passport. The outside ones are not secure enough, and the inside ones are only pouches, without a flap. A solution would be to add a velco keeper or snap like on the handle, to keep the passport in the pouch. Second, it needs a zippered pocket to hold coins. (All of the inside pockets are merely pouches with nothing to secure the contents if it should turn upside-down.) Lastly, it needs a hook or clasp inside that I can hang a keyring on. When I leave the airpot to catch my flight, I won't be using my keys for a few weeks. I don't want to carry unneeded keys, but I also don't want them to be flopping around inside. Outside is a security risk. If the brief had these 3 improvements, it would be a great design. Until then, it's pretty good, but not great.

I have searched the world looking for a briefcase that is capable of carrying everything the modern day business traveller needs in an organised, and easily accessible manner and that does not weigh a ton. I have spent a small fortune along the way trying a range of different products. The CPA rocks.
By BW, Albuquerque NM, January 5, 2014
I really like the CPA Briefcase. It is the best bag I have ever had for carrying my daily work files and my laptop. I use it as a portable mini-file cabinet. Even though it is great, I would make two design changes to make it better. First, I would make the top opening open more so I can see files inside better. Maybe have a U shaped zipper along the top that allows a "tongue" to be folded back so the top is wide open and I could see inside and pull individual files out. Second, make the grab handles shorter on the top so it would be easier to grab one handle to move the case. Also it would be easier to get ahold of both handles. They are so long that if you try to lift by one handle it is off balance. It's also hard to grab both handles with one hand because the are so long the are too far apart.
By Bob, Allentown, PA, November 25, 2013
Wish I would've bought this years ago. I have the duffle bag a few years now and with the addition of this CPA bag my career should be covered. Fantastic quality, durable and looks great. It's worth every penny..then some. I recommend this company to all my fellow railroaders out there.
