This Large Aviator Kit Bag is used by local firemen here in Billings, Montana as a "turnout bag" and they love it! It'll easily hold turn out coat, pants, helmet, boots, and miscellaneous equipment.
Over two feet long and 14 inches tall, the 3/4 wrap-around #10 YKK heavy duty zipper opens up the bag nearly flat. Imagine plenty of room to step in and "dress." Enveloping 1.5" wide webbing handle wraps all the way around the bottom of the bag. It's also double box stitched to the bag. No tearing here, ever. Available in Black only.

We live internationally so we use a lot of bags when we move or just travel back home to the states. These bags are the perfect size to reach the 50lb. limit for airlines. Plus you can't beat the guarantee!! We will be using them for the first time this summer when my family flies from the DR to Hong Kong plus 2 flights in the US. I may update this review after the summer when I see how the bags held up! I knocked off a star for 2 things-I wish it was noted that each bag from Red Oxx comes with their cable wire lock so you really don't have to purchase then unless you want extras or to use on other bags you have. 2nd- I wish there was an option for a shoulder strap.

I haven't used this yet, but I am happy with it. It is really big, bigger than I was expecting. However, great materials and construction. This is a really well made bag. I will get a smaller one, too. This is unrivaled for the price.

Love this bag. Wish I had bought two, now they are on back order :(
It's incredibly rigid, the zippers are awesome, and the design makes it so easy to pack, unpack, and live out of. If you don't have to carry your bags around much, this is perfect. I'm using it with a small, collapsible luggage cart (which is very easy to pack into this bag as well), as luggage for a door-to-door courier (a nice perk of Germany's railways for subscribers of their network pass), and with my skydiving gear. I have an XS, S, and this Large one. I pack the smaller ones in the big one as a version of 'packing cubes' on some trips, and when I need more or less space I take them separately. Very neat.
I do wish though it had an option for a shoulder strap. Probably going to have a skydiving rigger add four D-rings so I can attach straps and haul them like backpacks or shoulder bag. Any modifications on this bag would have to be done to the highest standards.

Living in Vietnam means that not everything is available here so when I go places usually I buy things and bring them back. The Aviator Bag is the perfect companion to travel inside my suitcase on the way out and to carry my cloth back to Saigon. Durable, light and with the Redoxx symbol easy to spot amongst the other luggage on the band.

We will be moving to Ajijic, Jal. Mexico in April and wanted to try the large Aviator bags. We sold our home and needed to move to an apartment in the meantime so we ordered four bags to test them on the short distance move. We packed them for our move and they worked spectacularly for us. They are tough and held a lot and everything packed into a nice cube. When packed to capacity they were well under the weight limit for most airlines. We also have the Red Oxx Fly Boxcar carry on. We used it last year to travel across Mexico from Cancun to Guadalajara and on to Puerto Vallarta. Love it as well. I only think of Red Oxx when I thin of travel bags. On a recent trip to the Ozarks for a family reunion I relized I needed a bag to hold my inflatable kayak. My current duffle bags zippers broke trying to stuff my deflated kayak into them. My wife and I own 2 Red Oxx bags and I decided to order the large Aviator Mesh bag, but was going to need it by Thursday of that week! Red Oxx had it on my doorstep by Thursday and I was able to put the kayak into the bag the night before the trip. Family and friends were very impressed with the bag as am I! Having known Jim and Perry when I was a young man growing up in Billings and being familiar with the quality of there products I had no doubt where to turn when I needed bags for my gear as a fireman but also something rugged enough to handle the Alaskan outdoors. I will recomend this gear to any fire department that needs bags that will stand as strong as the people doing the job, without letting you down, and also to any outdoors enthusaist that only wants to worry about what they will do when they get there and not if there gear can keep up.

Would be great to have a grab handle on vertical section of bag (but zipper in way?) to easily lift it off the airport luggage carousel.

Another perfect piece of kit with consistently awesome international service. Love this bag for our extended multi-week trips. It holds all those extra bits (tents/bags/etc) nice and secure for the plane flight, then folds flat and small for the trip itself.

I purchased this bag for my boyfriend who needed a durable bag for his hunting gear. I read the description, but still couldn't visualize just how large it would be - I'm telling you, it's huge! Which is why I'll be buying the medium bag for myself. This bag is well-built, nice looking and has a lifetime warranty. There are no pockets to store anything - which I consider a bonus because I prefer to place small items in Ziploc bags so I can see what's in them.

The things I like best about my large aviator bag:
Folds to a small and light pack for easy storage when it's not used.
Only 2 lbs so I can pack 48 of my own stuff when used for airline travel.
Well built: I carried it halfway across the continent on a motorcycle, used it as checked baggage with airlines and put it to various other uses - no sign of wear so far (it's been only about 6 months, though).

We recently ordered 50 of the Large Aviator bags and had them embroidered with our fire department logo. The delivery was fast and the product is exactly what we needed to protect our expensive turnouts. A full set of structural fire gear fits in this bag with room to spare. Are these carry-on legal?
The Extra Small and the Small Aviator are both carry-on legal.
Is there a shoulder strap?
The bag would not work with a shoulder strap as the zipper is designed to open the bag fully.
Are the Kit Bags waterproof?
All Red Oxx bags are water resistant, not waterproof. The stitching puts holes in the fabric.

Why is the price so much lower?
