I've bought 4 of these now. One for myself and 3 as gifts for colleagues. It is the best garment bag on earth. The latches hold suits and shirts tightly in place, the shoe pockets also swallow up my Lil'Roy packed with toiletries, the front zip pocket is great for things like underwear, workout clothes and casual stuff.
The bag carries so well that there is nearly no wrinkling of your suit, tux, dress, whatever.
Truly an amazing bag.

I travel about one week a month and abuse my luggage. I have had this bag for a few months now and I am amazed at how well it is built! It is packed with great features that are build to last! Nothing cheap about this bag including the price but you get what you pay for!

As I travel with suits now, I needed something that was robust as well as keeping the suits and shirts relatively uncrumpled. This is it. Huge light and built to last forever. A great combination.
I use an Airboss and a Trifold so this makes up the perfect trio. I travel to Russia and Uzbekistan, places where you want to be able to carry on only. Excellent.

This bag is great. I needed a new garment bag as I now travel with suits regularly. I have an Air Boss which I love and this is a great addition. I was surprised at the weight of the bag.

I have this bag in the safari colors. It is very roomy and well built, should take years of travel with no problem. All of the hardware is heavy duty and tough but doesn't look clunky or overbuilt. I love the fact that this has two hangar attachments and big pockets for shoes. It is well designed and practical. It may be expensive but you absolutely get what you pay for. Highly recommend!

This bag replaced my 20+ year old Tumi which has been with me around the world many times. To be honest, price was a factor in chosing Red Oxx over another Tumi but for sure this bag seems at least as ruggedly built -- time will tell. Simplicity, toughness and good looks are the main pros. The hanging hook and hardware are WAY better than Tumi. My only slight disappointment is that the Wallylocks are not as heavy duty and don't lock down as tightly. Overall, superb!

I couldn't imagine a better built bag. From the photos and description on the website, it was clear that this bag was very well constructed. Being Made in the USA was also a major selling point. When the bag arrived, I was very impressed with its features. The materials are of top quality and are built to last. I've owned my Flying Fortress since May 2013 and couldn't be happier with it. I use my bag every week for travel and have easily fit four suits, shirts, ties, two pairs of shoes, toiletries, and casual clothes with no problem.
This bag has completely exceeded my expectations, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one... But I don't think I will need to. Thank you for building such an exceptional product.

Impressive materials and construction should allow this bag stand the test of years of heavy use. An opportunity for improvement would be a separate zippered compartment for the detachable hook and swivel to provide easy Valet/Bellman access.

Love the bag, and like others have said lots of room and built in a good flow. Have used on one trip so far and works very nicely. Light enough empty but still extremely sturdy and soft without the rough feeling. The garment loading is a little interesting, but not difficult. The garment portion zips half way so you drop the clothes into the bag as apposed to other bags where you lay flat and then it zips around. Not a big deal, but just so you know the way it goes. The inside hooks will also take most hangers, many garment bags won't take a thicker hanger, so you end up having to rehang clothes to travel, but no worries here. Great bag!

Very tough, just the right size to avoid overloading, 3 people, two forma outfits each, no problem.
By Greg Wheatley, Perth, Australia, January 12, 2011
I received this bag as an early Christmas present, after my old suit carrier came apart (taking one suit with it) in Hong Kong. It's good looking, extremely tough, and holds an incredible amount.

I am very pleased with my new Flying Fortress garment bag. It is large but I have still managed to convince the usually stingy Air France employees that it fits very nicely in the overhead carry-on compartment on several trips to France. I am very happy with my purchase.

I'm so glad my old suit bag finally died on my last trip. This bag is exactly what I've been needing for years. I had high expectations but this is better than I expected. So tough I reckon this thing will outlast me. Incredibly fast international shipping. Big problem is... I'm so impressed with this Red Oxx item I'm going to have to buy more...

I am sorry but acceptable is insufficient in describing what I received from you for my order. It was unbelievable. Outstanding and better than I could have dreamed. You do not need to sell these (garment bags) by traditional means. Word of mouth will suffice.

I received my garment bag yesterday and can't tell you how pleased I am with it. It looks to be built tough and has a place for everything I'm required tocarry on the road.

I purchased a Safari Garment Bag at the recent safari convention in Las Vegas. Much to my surprise, I received the bag today. I had mentioned it would be nice to get the bag before I left for Europe this weekend. You doubted that was possible. I appreciate the extra effort I know you went to. Your quality is excellent and so is your service.Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Flying Fortress carry-on legal?
The Flying Fortress was not designed to be carry-on legal. Try our Gypsy Suit Cover
if you need a carry-on garment bag.
How many suits will fit in the Fortress?
Depends on the suits. 3-4 normal typical dress suits should fit. Several Zoot Suits probably wouldn't cut it.
Where do my shoes go?
Your shoes will fit nicely in the four shoe pockets located on the inside fold.
What are Wally Locks?
Wally Locks are specailly designed and patented rubber-toothed hanger clamps that hold your suit hangers in place.
I wear big and tall sizing, will my suits still fit in the Fortress?
Will a women's dress fit in the Fortress?
Yes, unless it's a full length dress or a large gown like a wedding gown. Generally any dress longer than just below the knees would be too long to fit without wrinkling the bottom.
Is there a way to securely lock my bag?
Sure, you can use any TSA approved bag lock
or try our Cable Lock
for a simple, semi-secure solution. Watch this video where CEO Jim Markel demonstrates how you can use the cable that comes with the product Dog Tag
price tag to secure your bag
. Keep in mind, any determined thief can still cut open a soft sided bag with a sharp knife.
My zipper broke. The teeth have separated. Do I send it in for warranty repair?
No need for warranty repair, fix it yourself. Check out this video where CEO Jim Markel shows how easy it is to do it yourself.
Can you ship USPS?
Yes, Red Oxx will ship USPS upon request. Simply state, "Please ship USPS" in the cart comments during checkout and we will adjust your billing accordingly.

A GARMENT BAG BUILT LIKE A TANK?
Our customers like to define our gear as "built like a tank". While obviously you're not going to be toting around garment bags that weigh 100 tons and have six inches of armor plate, still the comparison is valid. For a garment bag, they are built tough. Starting with one off the most durable textile material available, 1000 weight CORDURA® nylon, we use super strong UV resistant thread that is double stitched into every seam.
BOUND AND BAGGED.
Places where two separate pieces of fabric are stitched together are then bound, that is, we take a long piece of one inch wide nylon webbing and fold it over the edges of the two pieces and stitch them together, this creates a strong seam, or binding, that prevents the pieces from unraveling on the inside of the bag, or gives it a clean finished look if on the outside of the bag. In addition, each exposed fabric edge, such as on a pocket flap, is also bound using a thicker binding material. Inside edges typically receive a thinner nylon webbing, whereas outside corner edges that are exposed to wear will have a thicker nylon binding. All of our binding material is vertically woven to prevent fraying, peeling or splitting that you may commonly see in competitors garment bags that brag of "binding" their edges.
WHY DOUBLE BOX STITCHED?
Each stress point, such as where the handles attach to the bag, is double box stitched - which is where we get the "double XX" in our name, Red Oxx; a stitching practice we adapted from our time as parachute riggers.
MY, WHAT BIG ZIPPERS YOU HAVE!
The reason Red Oxx uses the largest zipper we can afford, the #10 YKK VISLON® zipper, is that they are easily repairable, even in the field; they will hold their place, that is, they "lock"; they are difficult to penetrate, thereby increasing the security of your belongings; they function smoothly in inclement weather and they can be yanked from a variety of angles without losing teeth or becoming separated.
PUTTING THE HARD IN HARDWARE.
Red Oxx has occasionally been accused of "overdoing" our hardware. But once you've had a cheap piece of plastic hardware break in the middle of a busy intersection, airport or other inconvenient locale dumping your expensive suits or dresses all over the ground, having a heavy-duty nickel-plated or stainless steel D ring or attachment swivel that weighs just a little more, or might make a little noise, is a travel companion's confidence builder and peace of mind maker. After all, you want to enjoy your journey as best you can. Why worry about having your garment bag break down?
